Bihar, one of India’s most politically influential states, has once again delivered a dramatic verdict in the 2025 Assembly elections. Known for its unpredictable political landscape, Bihar has witnessed several surprising shifts over the past five years—and the latest election results continue that trend.

NDA Registers a Dominant Victory

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has secured a sweeping victory, winning 202 out of 243 seats, forming a decisive majority in the Assembly. On the other hand, the opposition Mahagathbandhan, led by Tejashwi Yadav, managed to win only 35 seats, marking a significant drop in their political influence. The Congress failed to touch even double-digit numbers, while political strategist Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party drew a blank.

Nitish Kumar—who has alternated alliances between RJD and BJP in the past—has once again emerged as the leading face for the Chief Minister’s post. Meanwhile, Tejashwi Yadav, son of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, continued to push strongly for what could have been his first term as Chief Minister.

Nitish Kumar’s Assurance

Following the victory, Nitish Kumar addressed supporters and assured that Bihar will become “one of the most developed states in India” under the new NDA government.
