ATS Questions 112 Youths Over Pakistan Social Media Links

The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has launched a massive statewide operation after suspected social media connections with Pakistani gangsters came under the scanner. As part of the coordinated crackdown, 112 youths from different parts of Maharashtra have been taken in for questioning over their alleged links with Pakistan-based social media networks.

According to officials, the investigation focuses on suspected online interactions with Pakistani gangsters Shehzad Bhatti, Abid Jatt, and Rana Hanif through social media platforms.

The individuals being questioned are from several districts, including Mumbai, Thane, Mira Road, Pune, Nashik, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nagpur, Ahilyanagar, Parbhani, and Kolhapur. Authorities are currently examining the nature of their online activities and whether any suspicious communication took place.

Two Kolhapur Youths Under ATS Scanner

Two youths from Kolhapur district have also come under investigation after intelligence inputs suggested they were allegedly attempting to establish contact with the suspected network.

An ATS team reportedly questioned both individuals for more than 10 hours on Thursday. Officials have maintained strict confidentiality regarding the operation, and no further details about the interrogation have been officially disclosed.

Kolhapur Has Faced Similar Investigations Before

This is not the first time Kolhapur has drawn the attention of central and state security agencies. In 2022, several youths from Hupari were questioned over suspected links with a terrorist organization.

In 2023, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted a raid in Hatkanangale taluka of Kolhapur district and detained a suspect as part of a separate investigation.

With the latest ATS action linked to the alleged social media network of Pakistani gangsters, Kolhapur and parts of western Maharashtra have once again come under the spotlight.

Officials have not announced any arrests in connection with the current operation. The ATS investigation is ongoing, and authorities are expected to determine whether the suspected online contacts were casual interactions or part of a larger network requiring further legal action.
