“Action Plan” for Strengthening Pimpri-Chinchwad’s Water Supply
Hold a meeting on the city’s water needs and measures : Demand by MLA Mahesh Landge to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis

Pimpri-Chinchwad | Representative
The current population of Pimpri-Chinchwad city is around 3.5 million. By 2051, the population is expected to reach nearly 10 million. Accordingly, the city will require a minimum water supply of 800 MLD (million liters per day). Therefore, it is necessary to develop new water sources and efficiently implement the ongoing water supply projects. For this purpose, BJP MLA Mahesh Landge has demanded that a review meeting be held with the concerned ministers and senior officials, and that an “Action Plan” be prepared.
In this regard, a representation has been sent to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The letter states that currently, water is being supplied to the city from Pavana, Andra, and Bhama Askhed dams. The stay order on the Pavana closed pipeline project has been lifted, but the work has not yet started. From the Andra dam, a supply of 100 MLD water has begun, while work on the Bhama Askhed project is in progress and needs to be expedited.
Meanwhile, considering the growing population and the city’s needs, a proposal has been submitted to the state government to reserve water for the city from Chas Kaman, Thokarwadi, and Mulshi dams. Increasing complaints are being raised regarding water supply in newly developing housing societies across the city.
In this context, MLA Landge has requested the Chief Minister to schedule a review meeting under his chairmanship with the Water Resources Minister, Urban Development Minister, concerned department ministers, and senior officials, to discuss preparations for new water sources, speeding up the Pavana closed pipeline, Andra, and Bhama Askhed projects, and strengthening the city’s water supply system.
Considering Pimpri-Chinchwad’s rapidly growing population and future water requirements, it is extremely essential to plan for new water sources in a systematic manner and expedite the ongoing water projects. We are consistently following up to ensure that citizens get a sustainable and adequate water supply. A review meeting under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister and concerned ministers will be held soon, and necessary decisions for the city will be taken in a timely manner.
