Pimpri-Chinchwad | The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has approved the bifurcation of its Nashik Road and Charholi branches and sanctioned the establishment of a new Dighi Camp branch office. The decision has been made in light of the increasing number of electricity consumers and the need to improve efficiency in service delivery.

BJP MLA Mahesh Landge had been consistently following up with the state’s Chief Minister and Energy Minister Devendra Fadnavis, urging for necessary steps to strengthen electricity supply in Pimpri-Chinchwad. A detailed meeting regarding this issue was held at the Urja Bhavan in Mumbai a month ago, during which he emphasized the need for this bifurcation.

Reallocation of Consumer Base:
Nashik Road Branch
Previous consumers: 60,940
After bifurcation: 31,739
Coverage area: Alankapuram, Chakrapani Vasahat, Godown Chowk, Mohan Nagar

Charholi Branch
Previous consumers: 33,449
After bifurcation: 28,282
Coverage area: Charholi village and surrounding localities

Since his election in 2014, MLA Mahesh Landge has been committed to improving the basic infrastructure in newly merged villages of Pimpri-Chinchwad. With the BJP taking over the municipal corporation in 2017, development in these areas gained momentum. This led to the growth of the Chikhli-Moshi-Charholi Residential Corridor. Now, the creation of the Dighi Camp branch is expected to significantly strengthen the local electricity distribution network.

New Dighi Camp Branch to Serve 34,368 Consumers
The newly approved Dighi Camp branch will cater to 34,368 consumers, covering areas such as Dighi village, B.U. Bhandari, Magazine Chowk, Mauli Nagar, and Sai Park. The total number of consumers across all three branches now stands at 94,389.
This move is expected to enhance quality, speed, and responsiveness in the electricity distribution system and improve overall customer satisfaction.

“This bifurcation was necessary to ensure that MSEDCL provides timely and efficient service to consumers, and to ease the load on existing service centers. With the new Dighi branch, residents of the area will benefit from localised and faster service delivery. I will continue to follow up for its swift implementation under the guidance of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.”
