Shaktipith Mahamarg Approved – A crucial meeting of the Maharashtra State Cabinet, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, was held today. During the meeting, eight major decisions were taken. The most significant among them was the approval of land acquisition for the Shaktipith Mahamarg (Highway). The Cabinet also approved a budget allocation of ₹20,000 crore for the planning and acquisition process of this project.


Highlights of the Cabinet Meeting – 8 Key Decisions

1. Approval for Shaktipith Mahamarg

The biggest decision today was the approval of the Shaktipith Mahamarg project during the state Cabinet meeting held at the Mantralaya, chaired by Devendra Fadnavis.

  • The highway will connect three and a half Shakti Peethas, two Jyotirlingas, and prominent pilgrimage sites including Pandharpur and Ambajogai, totaling 18 religious sites across Maharashtra.

  • The highway will span from Pawanar (Wardha District) to Patradevi (Sindhudurg District) on the Maharashtra-Goa border.

  • The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) will execute the project.

  • ₹20,000 crore is approved for project planning and land acquisition.

2. Waiver of Fees for High Court Land in Bandra East

  • The government has waived fees amounting to ₹31.75 crore for land reserved for the High Court in Bandra East.

  • The non-residential and residential premises of displaced persons on this land will be transferred free of cost to the Public Works Department.

3. Increased Allowances for Tribal Government Hostel Students

  • Doubling of monthly living and dietary allowances for tribal students in government hostels.

  • Significant increase in the annual education materials allowance.

4. Revised Administrative Approval for Koyna Dam Power Project

  • The Cabinet granted revised administrative approval for the Koyna Dam Tailrace Powerhouse Project.

5. Amendments to the Maharashtra GST Act, 2017

  • The government will introduce a new Maharashtra GST Bill in the upcoming legislative session by amending the existing Act.

6. Tax Dues Settlement Bill for Public Sector Enterprises

  • A new amendment bill will be introduced to settle tax, interest, penalty, or delay-related dues of public sector undertakings.

7. Approval for STP on Burial Ground Land in Chikhali, Pimpri-Chinchwad

  • Approval granted to use 40% (7,000 sq.m.) of 1.75 hectares of land at Chikhali burial ground for setting up a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP).

8. Loan Guarantee for ₹2,000 Crore Under Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme

  • The state government will provide guarantee and waive guarantee fees for a ₹2,000 crore loan from HUDCO under the Maharashtra Urban Infrastructure Development Loan Scheme.

  • This includes

    • ₹822.22 crore for the water supply project in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation

    • ₹268.84 crore for 4 sewage treatment projects under Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority

    • ₹116.28 crore for the water supply project of Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation
