State Gears Up for Municipal Elections; Draft Ward Structure Finalized for 29 Municipal Corporations
Mission Municipal Corporation: Voting in December, New Mayors to Take Office in January!

Pimpri-Chinchwad | The way has been cleared for elections to 29 municipal corporations in the state, as the draft ward structure has been finalized by the state government and submitted to the Election Commission. As a result, the process of municipal elections across the state will officially begin.
Following the Supreme Court’s order to issue the notification within four weeks and conduct elections within four months regarding the local self-government elections pending since 2021, the state government has accelerated its actions. Accordingly, the draft ward structure has been prepared and sent to the Election Commission.
Next Process for Draft Ward Structure-

22nd to 25th August- Schedule to announce the draft ward structure.

Next 15 days- Citizens’ objections and suggestions will be invited.

Following 10 days- After hearings, the final ward structure will be announced.

Afterwards, the reservation lottery process for the wards will be carried out.

The election program will be announced.
Voting and Results-

20th to 25th December 2025- Voting is likely to take place during this period.

January 2026- Appointment of new mayors is expected.
Aspiring candidates across the state have already started preparing for the elections, and political activities have gained momentum. After the final decision on ward structure and reservation, the Election Commission will announce the election schedule.
