Big News: Rain Alert in Lonavala; All Schools to Remain Closed on August 20 and 21!
Several Roads Flooded Due to Continuous Rainfall in the City and Surrounding Ghat Regions

Lonavala | Due to continuous heavy rainfall in Lonavala city and surrounding ghat regions, the local administration has taken a significant step to ensure the safety of students. The Lonavala Municipal Council has declared a holiday for all schools—covering primary, secondary, and higher secondary levels—within its jurisdiction on August 20 and 21, 2025.
According to Chief Officer Ashok Sable, relentless rainfall has caused severe waterlogging on multiple roads in the city and nearby hilly areas, leading to transportation issues. The India Meteorological Department has issued a ‘Red Alert’ for the next three days, forecasting extremely heavy rainfall. In response to this, and prioritizing student safety, the administration has promptly decided to suspend school activities for two days.
School management, teachers, and staff have been advised to secure all important school records and documents during the closure. Furthermore, instructions have been issued to ensure that any academic loss is compensated through more effective teaching in the remaining school days.
The administration has appealed to all parents and students in Lonavala to follow official guidelines and take all necessary precautions during this period of adverse weather.
