To pursue the matter through Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis

Pimpri-Chinchwad |
A demand has been made that the Chief Justice and the Governor should give priority to establishing a circuit bench of the Bombay High Court in Pune. The Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa has been urged to follow up on this matter, a demand strongly supported by the Pune Bar Association and all lawyer associations in the district. BJP MLA Mahesh Landge has extended his full support to this initiative and assured that he will pursue the matter through Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

The demand for a High Court bench in Pune has been ongoing for several years. Now, the Pune Bar Association has taken a leading role in this cause. Under the leadership of Advocate S. K. Jain, a “Circuit Bench Action Committee” has been formed. This committee includes members from five bar councils in Pune and the presidents of all taluka-level bar associations in Pune district.

In fact, MLA Mahesh Landge has been following up on this issue since 2016. In this context, he has once again reiterated his support for the establishment of a High Court bench in Pune. Present during the discussion were Pune District Bar Association Vice President Adv. Surekha Bhosale, Adv. Vishwas Kharabe, Adv. Mangesh Kharabe, Adv. Harshvardhan Patil, and Adv. Sushant Shinde.

MLA Mahesh Landge stated,
“This demand is not just of lawyers but of the people across Western Maharashtra who deserve easy access to justice. Repeated travel to Mumbai for hearings is not only a financial and physical burden but also a mental strain. Pune already has the necessary infrastructure to support a bench of the High Court. Hence, establishing it here is a natural and just decision. Pune should be declared the location for the bench in the interest of making justice more accessible.”

Statement:
“This is a rightful fight for accessible justice for the citizens of Pune district and Western Maharashtra. Traveling to Mumbai for various cases causes not just financial and physical strain for litigants and legal professionals but also mental distress. Thousands of cases remain pending due to this. Establishing a High Court bench in Pune will make justice more accessible and save time, money, and effort. With the guidance of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, follow-up is ongoing at various levels regarding the ‘circuit bench’ matter, and we expect a decision soon.”
