CJP Alleges Lathi Charge, Stone Truck Sparks Row in Delhi

The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has alleged that Delhi Police resorted to a lathi charge on supporters during its proposed ‘Chalo Parliament’ march, while also claiming that a truck loaded with stones was parked near Jantar Mantar before the protest began. Videos shared by the party on social media have intensified the political controversy, although the claims have not been independently verified.

According to CJP, tension gripped the Jantar Mantar area even before the march commenced after party workers claimed to have spotted a truck allegedly carrying stones near the protest site. The party questioned who owned the vehicle, why it was parked there, and whether it had any connection with the planned demonstration. No official clarification has yet been issued regarding the truck.

CJP founder Abhijeet Deepke and other organizers maintained that the ‘Chalo Parliament’ march was intended to remain completely peaceful. Protesters were urged not to indulge in violence or take the law into their own hands.

“Do not engage in any wrongdoing yourself, and do not allow others to do so,” the organizers appealed to participants.

The party further alleged that Delhi Police used force against demonstrators after the march began. Several videos claiming to show the alleged lathi charge have since been circulated on social media. However, the authenticity of those videos has not been independently verified.

Heavy Security Blanket Across Central Delhi

In anticipation of the proposed protest, Delhi Police deployed an unprecedented security arrangement across the national capital. A three-tier security grid was established around Jantar Mantar, Parliament Street, Central Vista, Connaught Place, and Shankar Chowk.

The security deployment included two layers of Delhi Police personnel along with one layer of paramilitary forces, while rapid response teams were placed on standby to handle any emergency situation.

Delhi Police: No Permission Granted

New Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police Sachin Sharma stated that no official permission had been sought or granted for the ‘Chalo Parliament’ march. Police appealed to citizens not to participate in any unauthorized gathering or procession.

Section 163 of BNSS in Force

With Parliament’s Monsoon Session underway and the possibility of protests, authorities have enforced Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) across the New Delhi district.

The restrictions prohibit gatherings of five or more persons, processions, demonstrations, and sit-in protests without authorization. Peaceful protests are permitted only at Jantar Mantar and only after obtaining prior approval from the authorities.

Strict Action Warned for Violators

Delhi Police have warned that anyone violating the prohibitory orders will face legal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and other applicable laws.
