Two Youths Killed in Horrific Hinjawadi Bike Crash

A tragic road accident in Pune’s Hinjawadi IT Park area claimed the lives of two young men after a speeding motorcycle crashed into a roadside concrete barrier in the early hours of Sunday.

The fatal accident occurred near the DLF Circle Metro Station at around 2:11 AM, when the motorcycle rider allegedly lost control of the vehicle while travelling at high speed. The impact of the collision was so severe that the motorcycle was completely mangled.

According to police, Rishikesh Sahadev Potdukhe (26), a resident of Wakad, was riding a Bajaj motorcycle (MH 14 MW 0756) through the Hinjawadi area. As the vehicle approached the DLF Circle Metro Station stretch, the rider reportedly lost control, causing the motorcycle to ram into a cement barricade on the roadside.

The motorcycle was carrying Akshay Rajendra Kavare (23) as a pillion rider. Akshay suffered severe head injuries in the crash, while Rishikesh sustained multiple internal and external injuries.

Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. However, despite medical efforts, both young men succumbed to their injuries.

Case Registered at Hinjawadi Police Station

Following the incident, Hinjawadi Police registered a case against the deceased rider under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act for allegedly driving in a rash and negligent manner leading to death.

The case has been registered under:

  • BNS Section 281
  • BNS Section 106(1)
  • BNS Section 324(4)
  • Motor Vehicles Act Section 184

Police Sub-Inspector Patil is conducting further investigation into the accident.

The incident has sparked grief in the Wakad and Hinjawadi areas. The tragedy has once again drawn attention to the growing menace of overspeeding and reckless driving during late-night and early-morning hours, which continues to claim young lives on city roads.
