PCET-Aberystwyth Pact Boosts Global Education
Historic India-UK academic collaboration opens powerful global pathways in research, dual degrees, student exchange, and international learning opportunities.
Pimpri-Chinchwad: In a major step towards strengthening global academic excellence, Pimpri Chinchwad Education Trust (PCET) and the UK-based Aberystwyth University have intensified their international educational collaboration through a high-level strategic meeting held at the PCET Trust office. The meeting marked a significant milestone in expanding global opportunities for students, researchers, and faculty members from Maharashtra.
Speaking during the meeting, Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor of International Affairs at Aberystwyth University, Prof. Nigel Holt, emphasized that globally reputed educational institutions must work together to create transformational opportunities in higher education through collaborative partnerships.
He further expressed confidence that the growing academic relationship between PCET and Aberystwyth University would play a vital role in the long-term expansion and international growth of both institutions.
The collaboration follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between PCET and Aberystwyth University in 2025. As part of the next phase of this agreement, senior representatives from both institutions participated in detailed discussions focusing on future academic and research cooperation.

The meeting was attended by PCET President Dnyaneshwar Landge, Vice President Padmatai Bhosale, Secretary Vitthal Kalbhor, Treasurer Shantaram Garade, Trustee Harshvardhan Patil, industrialist Narendra Landge, Ajinkya Kalbhor, and Executive Director Dr. Girish Desai.
Representing Aberystwyth University were Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nigel Holt, Regional Manager Samantha Wallin, and Consultant Zafeer Alam. From the PCET side, OSD Dr. Yogesh Bhavsar, Dr. Aishwarya Gopalakrishnan, Dr. Nirupama Kocherlakota, and Digital Marketing Department representative Shubhangi Ramteke were also present.
During the strategic discussions, both institutions explored long-term collaborations in higher education, advanced research, agriculture, arts, culture, faculty exchange, and student mobility programs. The partnership is expected to create a strong international academic ecosystem benefiting students from Pimpri-Chinchwad and across Maharashtra.
In his official statement, PCET Executive Director Dr. Girish Desai highlighted the global reputation of Aberystwyth University for academic excellence and cutting-edge research infrastructure.
“World-class educational institutions should create new opportunities for students and faculty through mutual cooperation and provide a transformative direction to higher education,” Prof. Nigel Holt stated.
“Through this MoU, several collaborative initiatives including joint academic research, international higher education opportunities, dual degree programs, short-term courses, summer school initiatives, student-faculty exchange, credit transfer systems, and internship opportunities will be implemented,” said Dr. Girish Desai.
The partnership is being viewed as a powerful gateway for Indian students seeking world-class education, global exposure, and research-driven career opportunities through international collaboration.
