New Delhi: In a dramatic and unprecedented move, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially cancelled the NEET-UG 2026 examination conducted on May 3, 2026. The decision, approved by the Central Government, has triggered nationwide concern among lakhs of medical aspirants and parents.

According to the official statement released by NTA on May 10, serious questions were raised over the transparency and integrity of the examination process after findings submitted by investigative agencies. To protect the credibility of the system and ensure justice for honest students, authorities decided to scrap the examination entirely and conduct a fresh test.

Meanwhile, the entire matter has now been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for an in-depth probe.

What Happens Next? NTA Explains Full Re-Exam Process

No Fresh Registration Required

Students who had already registered for NEET-UG 2026 will not have to apply again. NTA clarified that all existing applications and candidate data will remain valid for the re-examination process.

Exam Centres To Remain Unchanged

Candidates will appear at the same examination centres selected during the original application process. No changes have been announced regarding exam venues.

Big Relief On Fees

In a major relief for students and parents, NTA confirmed that no additional fee will be charged for the re-exam. More importantly, the examination fee already paid by candidates will be fully refunded. The complete cost of the re-examination will reportedly be borne internally by the agency.

Re-Exam Date Yet To Be Announced

NTA has not declared the fresh examination date yet. Officials stated that the revised schedule and new admit card details will soon be published on the official website.

NTA Warns Students Against Rumours

The agency has strongly appealed to students and parents not to believe unverified social media claims or fake updates circulating online. Aspirants have been advised to rely only on official NTA announcements for authentic information regarding the re-examination process.
