Speaking on a podcast with South African legend AB de Villiers, Chahal shared insights into his personal life and preparation. He stated that he has not consumed alcohol for the past six months and is now fully focused on staying active and contributing 150% to his team.

At 35, Chahal emphasized the importance of leading by example as a senior player and hopes younger cricketers in the IPL learn from his discipline and commitment.

Reflecting on IPL 2025, where Punjab Kings finished as runners-up under Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy, Chahal said the team narrowly missed the title. He mentioned that the absence of Marco Jansen in the final proved costly, adding that his presence could have changed the outcome against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Chahal also opened up about his struggles with injuries during the previous season. He revealed that a rib injury during a match against Kolkata Knight Riders and a finger fracture affected his performance in crucial knockout games.

With lessons learned, Chahal is now prioritizing his health and fitness as he gears up for a strong comeback in IPL 2026.
