Ajitdada Pawar: ‘Ajit Srushti’ Memorial to Be Built in Pimpri-Chinchwad in His Honor
BJP MLA Mahesh Landge urges civic administration to establish a grand memorial and name the new administrative complex after the late leader

Pimpri-Chinchwad |A grand memorial titled ‘Ajit Srushti’ is proposed to be built in Pimpri-Chinchwad in memory of late Deputy Chief Minister Ajitdada Pawar, who played a significant role in Maharashtra’s political and developmental journey. BJP leader and MLA Mahesh Landge has urged the civic administration to take immediate steps in this regard.
In a detailed representation submitted to Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Commissioner Shravanji Hardikar, MLA Landge demanded that a full-length bronze statue of Ajitdada Pawar be installed within the premises of the new administrative building.
The new administrative complex is being developed on a 33.86-acre site opposite D-Mart in Chinchwad, where construction of the main building is underway on approximately 8.65 acres. Once completed, the entire administrative functioning of PCMC will operate from this location. In view of this, Landge emphasized that a memorial dedicated to Ajitdada Pawar should be established within the same campus.
Highlighting Ajitdada Pawar’s contribution, Landge stated that as Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister, he accelerated Maharashtra’s overall development through strong administrative decisions, infrastructure growth, urban services, and development-oriented policies. His untimely demise, he said, is a great loss to the state.
Landge further demanded that during the first general body meeting of the newly elected corporators, a resolution approving the memorial should be passed as a tribute on behalf of the citizens of Pimpri-Chinchwad. Until then, he suggested that an oil portrait of Ajitdada Pawar be immediately installed in the old municipal council hall.
Concept of ‘Ajit Srushti’
As part of the proposal, MLA Landge suggested naming the auditorium in the new administrative building as ‘Ajitdada Pawar Auditorium’. Additionally, an exhibition-style development named ‘Pimpri-Chinchwad Ajit Srushti’ is envisioned, showcasing the city’s development journey from its inception to the present, along with future planning.
Ajitdada Pawar had dreamt of making Pimpri-Chinchwad a model city in terms of development, Landge said, adding that sincere efforts will be made to fulfill that vision. The memorial is expected to serve as a source of inspiration for future generations and symbolize dedication to public service.
“Ajitdada Pawar’s visionary leadership guided Maharashtra at every stage of development. Preserving his work and ideology is not just an emotional issue but our responsibility as citizens of Pimpri-Chinchwad. The memorial, the auditorium named after him, and the ‘Ajit Srushti’ concept will inspire generations to serve society,”
— Mahesh Landge, MLA, Pimpri-Chinchwad
