MSIHMCT, Pune Organizes QIP Seminar on Cyber Security & Cyber Hygiene
“MSIHMCT, Pune Empowers Students and Professionals with Cybersecurity Awareness and Safe Digital Practices”
Pune: The Maharashtra State Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology and Research Society (MSIHMCT, Degree), Pune, in collaboration with Savitribai Phule Pune University’s Quality Improvement Programme (QIP), successfully conducted a seminar on “Cyber Security & Cyber Hygiene” to promote safe digital practices.
The seminar, guided by Hon. Dr. V. M. Mohitkar, Director of Technical Education, Maharashtra State, and Chairman of MSIHMCT’s Governing Body, began with a ceremonial lamp-lighting in the presence of Hon. Dr. D. V. Jadhav, Joint Director, Technical Education (Regional Office, Pune) and Vice Chairman of MSIHMCT, and Dr. Seema Zagade, Principal of MSIHMCT, Degree.
Experts from cybersecurity and law enforcement led informative sessions:
Mr. Nitin Sawarkar, Technology Fellow in Software Security at PTC, Pune, discussed “Cyber Security and Cyber Hygiene,” emphasizing strong passwords, data protection, and proactive cyber practices.
Ms. Alka Jadhav, Assistant Police Inspector, Pune, delivered a session on “Digital Security,” highlighting real-life cybercrime cases, online fraud, phishing, and legal reporting mechanisms.
Mr. Abhijit Limaye, independent cybersecurity consultant and educator, spoke on “Responsible and Secured Use of Social Media,” focusing on privacy, personal data protection, and responsible digital behavior.

Interactive Q&A sessions allowed participants to engage with the speakers and deepen their understanding of contemporary cybersecurity challenges.
The seminar was successfully coordinated by Mr. Sachin Rayarikar, with support from faculty members including Dr. Vidya Kadam, Mr. Chintamani Sahasrabudhe, Mr. Devesh Janvekar, Mr. Abhay Manholkar, Mr. Chetan Gosavi, Ms. Sampada Paranjape, Ms. Anahita Manna, and Mr. Vishal Kaule and non-teaching staff led by Mr. Rahul Gade.
