The Mumbai-Goa Highway is in crisis mode as relentless monsoon rains continue to trigger landslides, flash floods, and road blockages across the Konkan region. Several stretches of the highway have been shut down or restricted, posing serious safety risks to commuters and local residents alike.
Sangameshwar: Landslides Hit Again, Villages at Risk
Near Shastripul in Sangameshwar, a fresh landslide has led to the third highway closure in recent weeks. Locals blame stalled construction work, faulty planning, and poor-quality execution for the increasing vulnerability of the route. Just days earlier, a similar landslide buried three two-wheelers. Now, visible cracks have appeared near hillside homes, threatening lives.
