Rohit Sharma:
Former Indian captain and star opener Rohit Sharma has lost his No. 1 position in the latest ICC ODI Rankings. After three weeks at the top, Rohit has slipped to the second spot, while New Zealand’s middle-order batsman Daryl Mitchell has claimed the No. 1 position.

Rohit Sharma had made a powerful comeback in the ODI series against Australia, finishing as the highest run-scorer of the series. His performance pushed him to the top of the ICC rankings. However, in the latest update, Rohit has dropped to No. 2 with just one rating point less than Mitchell.

Daryl Mitchell now leads the table with 782 rating points, becoming the first New Zealand player in 47 years to become the No. 1 ODI batsman. The last Kiwi to achieve this feat was Glenn Turner in 1979. Mitchell, who previously held the No. 3 spot, surpassed both Rohit Sharma and Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran.

Mitchell has been in exceptional form in 2025, scoring 761 runs in 16 innings at an average of 54.35, including one century and six half-centuries. In his ODI career so far, he has scored 2338 runs at an average of 53.13, including seven centuries.

Despite losing the top spot, Rohit Sharma has a strong chance to regain No. 1. India’s ODI series against South Africa begins on 30 November, and consistent performances across all three matches could help Rohit return to the top of the rankings.
