Mumbai: The makers of the popular television sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah have firmly denied rumours suggesting that Jethalal, one of the show’s most beloved characters, will be written out of the series.
Speculation about the exit of Dilip Joshi, who has portrayed Jethalal since the show’s inception, recently went viral on social media, leaving fans concerned about the future of the long-running comedy.

Responding to the rumours, the show’s producers clarified in a media interaction that Jethalal is not leaving the show. They stated that the current storyline revolves around his character, and the latest promotional campaign also features him prominently.
The makers also pointed out that the sitcom is set to complete 18 years on July 28, with special celebrations planned to mark the milestone, further dismissing reports of Jethalal’s exit.
Following the clarification, fans expressed relief on social media. According to various media reports, Dilip Joshi remains the highest-paid actor in the series and continues to be one of its biggest attractions.
Over the years, several cast members have left the show and been replaced by new actors. However, a few original cast members, including Dilip Joshi, continue to be an integral part of the sitcom.
Meanwhile, actress Disha Vakani, who played the iconic role of Dayaben, has remained away from the show for several years after going on maternity leave. Despite repeated requests from fans and efforts by the makers to bring her back, she has not returned and is currently focused on her personal life.
Earlier, the producers had acknowledged that Disha Vakani’s comeback appears increasingly unlikely due to her family responsibilities. They also indicated that if she does not return, the production team may eventually cast a new actress as Dayaben.
Although rumours about a new Dayaben have surfaced multiple times, no official replacement has been introduced so far, leaving fans still waiting for the beloved character’s return.
