The Indian stock market started the week on a strong note. Although Sensex and Nifty slipped slightly after the opening, Bank Nifty surged sharply and touched a new record high, supported by heavy buying in banking stocks.


🔹 Market Opening Highlights

  • Sensex opened 138 points higher at 84,700

  • Nifty opened 38 points higher at 25,948

  • Bank Nifty jumped 179–240 points, opening at 58,696 and hitting a new high

Most sectoral indices were trading in the green.

  • PSU Banks: Strong rally, best-performing sector

  • Media, Realty, FMCG, Consumer Durables, Private Banks: Good buying interest

  • Nearly all sectors were positive

The U.S. has cut tariffs on 200+ food items like tea, coffee, and spices.
👉 This is expected to benefit India’s FMCG and agriculture export sectors.
