Marathon meeting held at Vidhan Bhavan under the initiative of BJP MLA Mahesh Landge

Mumbai / Pimpri-Chinchwad | To resolve the problems of Hinjewadi IT Park, the metro work will be completed by the end of December. A “Single Point Authority” will be created for all government agencies to facilitate proposed roads and related development work and ensure smooth traffic, assured Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

To draw attention to the growing civic and traffic issues in Hinjewadi IT Park, representatives from the IT Forum and Housing Society Federations met with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar at Vidhan Bhavan today. This important meeting was organized under the initiative of BJP MLA Mahesh Landge. MLAs Shankar Mandekar and Shankar Jagtap were also present.

The delegation, including Sachin Londhe from the IT Forum and Sanjeevan Sangle from the Society Federation, held direct discussions with the Chief Minister. Representatives from Baner-Balewadi Residents Association, the #UNCLOGHinjawadiITPark campaign, Forum of IT Employees, Hinjewadi Employees and Residents Trust, and Mulshi Cooperative Housing Society Federation were present.

Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh, Pune Municipal Commissioner Navkishore Ram, PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Yogesh Mhase, State Chief Secretary, MIDC, Project Director of National Highways, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinaykumar Choubey, MahaMetro Executive Director Shravan Hardikar, and District Collector Jitendra Dudi provided information on administrative preparedness and action plans.

Hinjewadi IT Park is the largest IT hub in Maharashtra, with over five lakh IT professionals commuting daily. However, inadequate infrastructure, traffic congestion, poor road conditions, and lack of coordination have made life difficult for residents and employees. Against this backdrop, MLA Mahesh Landge highlighted the demand to “Free Hinjewadi IT Park from Obstacles.”

During the meeting, PMRDA presented a roadmap of proposed roads and related projects to the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister. The District Collector’s office was directed to expedite land acquisition for DP roads connecting Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad to Hinjewadi. To complete proposed road works connected to National Highways, coordination will be established with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, assured Chief Minister Fadnavis.

Chief Minister Fadnavis’ directives to the administration

  1. A “Single Point Authority” for coordination among all departments.

  2. PMRDA should take initiative for land acquisition work.

  3. Widen the bridge at Laxmi Chowk to six lanes.

  4. Start Hinjewadi Metro by end of December.

  5. MIDC should complete road widening works.

  6. Metro administration should provide parking provisions.

  7. Issue TDR and complete land acquisition within one month.

  8. Use advanced technology for traffic control.

  9. Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate to enforce traffic measures.

  10. National Highways Authority to begin works immediately.

  11. Start underpass work at Punawale, Tathawade, and Bhoomkar Chowk.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis gave a positive response to the IT Forum and various Society Federation delegations. He instructed the relevant government departments to take immediate action. For traffic decongestion in Hinjewadi IT Park and Pune-Pimpri-Chinchwad area, the Divisional Commissioner will oversee coordination among all government bodies. Fast-track, time-bound planning will be implemented to enhance proposed roads and infrastructure. This is the first time such a meeting was held regarding issues of Hinjewadi IT Park, and significantly, it proved to be fruitful.
