Shirwal Crash Kills Four Young Men, Two Injured

Shirwal: A horrific road accident on the Pune-Satara Highway claimed the lives of four young men and left two others seriously injured in the early hours of Tuesday, August 11. The accident took place near Shirwal on NH-48, triggering a major emergency response from highway police and local authorities.

According to preliminary information, the accident occurred at around 1:10 AM on the Satara-bound lane of the Pune-Satara Highway, near Hotel Shivalaya in Shirwal.

The Tata Nexon (MH 14 LJ 3033) was reportedly travelling from Pune towards Satara when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The car first crashed into the road divider and overturned. It then crossed into the opposite lane and collided with an Eicher truck (KA 27 C 5878), resulting in a devastating crash.

Four youths travelling in the car died in the accident. The deceased have been identified as Vedant Arjun Waringe (19), a resident of Talegaon Dabhade; Sonling Dhirendra Thakur (19), from Kamshet; Aditya Balasaheb Garud (19), from Takwe; and Nikhil Balu Raut (20), from Kamshet.

Two other occupants, Dikshit Dayanand Pujari (20) and Mayur Hanumant Shinde (20), both from the Kamshet area, sustained injuries in the crash. They were immediately shifted to a hospital for medical treatment. Their condition is being monitored.

Highway Police Rush to Spot

As soon as information about the accident was received, officers and personnel from the Highway Police Assistance Centre at Sarola rushed to the spot.

The crash caused disruption on the highway, prompting authorities to take immediate steps to clear the damaged vehicles. With the help of a crane, the accident-hit vehicles were removed from the road and traffic movement was subsequently restored.

Shirwal Police Begin Further Investigation

The exact circumstances that led to the driver losing control of the Tata Nexon are being investigated. The Shirwal Police Station has started further investigation and legal proceedings into the accident.

The incident has once again highlighted the dangers of high-speed driving on the Pune-Satara stretch, particularly during late-night and early-morning hours.
