A bizarre incident from Karnataka’s Tumakuru has left social media stunned after a rat was caught on CCTV allegedly stealing diamond and gold jewellery worth nearly ₹10 lakh from a jewellery store.

The unusual incident took place at Vishwas Jewellers, located near Caltex Circle in Tumakuru. Employees arrived at the store the following morning only to discover that nearly 50 grams of diamond-studded and gold jewellery had mysteriously disappeared.
The missing valuables reportedly included diamond rings, gold necklaces, and other precious ornaments, with the total value estimated at around ₹10 lakh.
What made the case even more puzzling was that the shop’s shutter remained completely intact, with no signs of forced entry or burglary. Before approaching the police, the staff decided to examine the store’s CCTV footage.

The footage delivered a shocking twist.
Security cameras captured a rat carrying diamond rings and gold ornaments in its mouth, dragging them one by one toward a corner inside the shop. The unexpected footage left the shop owner and employees completely stunned.
Using the CCTV recording, the staff traced the rat’s path and located a burrow hidden inside one corner of the jewellery shop. After carefully digging through the hole, they recovered 10 diamond rings and three gold necklaces, along with the remaining missing ornaments.
Fortunately, all the jewellery was recovered safely, bringing huge relief to the store owner and staff.
Meanwhile, the astonishing CCTV video has gone viral across social media platforms, with users comparing the incident to a scene straight out of a comedy film.
