Municipal Elections Announced: How to Check Your Name in the Voters List – Know the Process

Voters List | The schedule for elections to 29 municipal corporations across the state has been announced, intensifying political activity ahead of the local body polls. Voting will be held on January 15, 2026, and the results will be declared on January 16, 2026. As exercising the right to vote is crucial for every eligible citizen, it is equally important to ensure that your name is included in the voters list before polling day.
Many voters possess a Voter ID card but are unable to cast their vote because their name does not appear in the electoral roll. Additionally, last-minute confusion about polling stations or voter details on election day often causes inconvenience. To avoid such issues, voters are advised to verify their names in the voters list well in advance. The entire process is now available online and can be completed from home within minutes.
How to Check Your Name in the Voters List
Voters can check their details on the official website of the Election Commission of India by visiting electoralsearch.eci.gov.in. The website offers two search options:
-
Search by Personal Details:
Enter your name, father’s or husband’s name, date of birth, gender, state, district and assembly constituency. After entering the captcha code, you can instantly check whether your name appears in the voters list. -
Search by EPIC Number:
You can also search using your EPIC (Voter ID) number by selecting your state. This will display complete voter details, including polling booth address, part number and voter serial number, which are useful on election day.
What to Do If Your Name Is Not on the List
If your name is not found in the voters list, there is no need to panic. New voters or eligible citizens can apply for inclusion by filling Form 6, which is available online on the Election Commission’s website. The form can be submitted by logging in with a mobile number or email ID.
Applicants must provide personal details such as name, address, date of birth, gender and details of parents or spouse. Supporting documents like a birth certificate, school leaving certificate or official documents issued by the local municipal authority must be uploaded as proof of age. After verification by the election authorities, the applicant’s name will be added to the voters list.
