Pimpri: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has begun disbursing financial assistance to the families of sanitation workers who lost their lives in the Moshi garbage depot tragedy on July 8. Acting on the directions of Mayor Ravi Landge, the civic administration has fast-tracked the compensation process by transferring ₹10 lakh directly into the bank accounts of eligible legal heirs.

According to Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi, the compensation has already been credited to the legal heirs of Akshay Sawant (35), Sunny Mane (39), Rahul Gaikwad (35), Vaman Kasbe (35), Nagesh Gaikwad (26), Sunil Korke (40), and Ranjit Patil (22).
However, compensation for the families of Bhavesh Vani and Mahesh Kumbhar is yet to be released as the required legal documents have not been completed. The civic body said the funds will be transferred immediately after the verification process is completed.
The PCMC administration stated that providing immediate financial relief to the bereaved families remains its top priority. Officials are ensuring that eligible beneficiaries receive assistance without unnecessary delays, while pending cases are being processed as soon as the required documentation is submitted.
Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi said the administration is prioritizing the implementation of the compensation decision and that all eligible legal heirs will receive the sanctioned amount once the necessary formalities are completed.
Mayor Ravi Landge reiterated that no family of the deceased workers should have to wait for financial assistance. He said the administration has been instructed to complete all pending procedures on priority so that the remaining beneficiaries also receive compensation at the earliest.
