Maharashtra Rain Alert: Heavy Showers Likely in Key Districts
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall across Maharashtra as the impact of a deep low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal intensifies. Several districts are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall on Tuesday, prompting the weather department to issue Orange and Yellow Alerts across the state.

According to the IMD, the low-pressure system located over the northwest Bay of Bengal near the West Bengal and north Odisha coast is moving westward, increasing the likelihood of intense rainfall over large parts of Maharashtra. At the same time, cyclonic circulations over southwest Rajasthan and northern Uttar Pradesh are also influencing weather conditions across the country.
Over the past few days, Maharashtra has witnessed continuous thunderstorms and widespread rainfall, with some regions recording heavy showers while others experienced light to moderate rain. The weather pattern is expected to persist throughout Tuesday.
On Monday, significant rainfall was recorded in Palghar, Nashik, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Parbhani, Latur, and Nanded, while several parts of Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, and Vidarbha also received thunderstorm activity.
The IMD has warned that Kolhapur, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, and Gondia are likely to receive heavy rainfall and has placed these districts under an Orange Alert.
Meanwhile, Raigad, Pune Ghat region, Ratnagiri, Satara Ghat region, Sindhudurg, Jalgaon, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Buldhana, Parbhani, Hingoli, Nanded, Washim, Akola, Amravati, Yavatmal, Wardha, Nagpur, and Bhandara have been placed under a Yellow Alert, with thunderstorms, lightning, and moderate to heavy rainfall expected during the day.
Residents in the affected districts have been advised to remain alert, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall, and follow official weather advisories issued by local authorities.
