New Delhi:
Until now, you might have seen Kia’s popular cars in petrol, diesel, and electric versions. But now, the company has introduced its much-loved family MPV, the Kia Carens, in a CNG variant as well. With the ever-rising prices of petrol and diesel, more customers are shifting toward CNG vehicles — and Kia has tapped into this growing demand.
The new Kia Carens CNG is priced at ₹11.77 lakh (ex-showroom).

CNG Kit Features

The fitted CNG kit is not an aftermarket attachment, but a dealer-level fitment. Kia has used a government-certified Lovato DIO kit, which comes with a 3-year or 1 lakh km third-party warranty. The kit costs ₹77,900 and can be installed on the base petrol variant (priced at ₹10.99 lakh).

Engine and Gearbox

Mechanically, the CNG variant remains unchanged. It continues to use the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Although Kia hasn’t yet disclosed official power figures, this engine is known for its smooth performance and refined nature.

Design and Dimensions

There are no exterior design changes in the CNG model. The Carens CNG retains the body-coloured bumpers and door handles, silver-finished tiger-nose grille, rear spoiler, shark-fin antenna, and halogen headlamps and taillamps, giving it a simple yet premium look.

It runs on R15 or R16 steel wheels with full-size wheel covers.
In terms of dimensions, it measures 4,540 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,708 mm in height (with roof rails).
The 2,780 mm wheelbase makes it one of the most spacious MPVs in its class.

Six Attractive Colours

The Carens CNG is available in six colour options
Clear White, Sparkling Silver, Gravity Grey, Aurora Black Pearl, Imperial Blue, and Pewter Olive — each offering a distinct visual appeal.

Key Features and Safety

Kia has retained all essential features in the CNG variant, including:

  • Keyless Entry

  • Burglar Alarm

  • Electrically Adjustable ORVMs

  • Rear-View Camera

  • Rear Sunshade Curtains

  • Driver Seat Height Adjustment

On the safety front, the Carens CNG continues to be robust with Kia’s 10-safety package, which includes:

  • 6 Airbags

  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

  • Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) with Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS)

  • Hill Assist Control (HAC)

  • Vehicle Stability Management (VSM)

  • All-Wheel Disc Brakes

  • Rear Parking Sensors

  • Highline TPMS

Market Competition and Efficiency

In the Indian market, the Kia Carens CNG directly competes with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga CNG and Maruti XL6 CNG.
While Kia has not officially revealed the mileage figures yet, the company claims that it will offer better fuel efficiency and affordability compared to the standard model.
