Virat Kohli, who had already reached the field, stopped and waited for the injured Shubman Gill instead of walking ahead with the rest of the team.

In the viral clip, Kohli can be heard calling out to Gill, saying, “Come on, brother…” Gill, who had suffered an injury while batting, replied that he could not run comfortably. Despite being one of the senior-most players in the squad, Kohli chose to wait for his captain before proceeding, a gesture that has been widely appreciated by fans.
Gill had played a crucial knock of 80 runs before retiring hurt after sustaining an injury during India’s chase.
Earlier in the match, England were bowled out for 258 runs. Chasing 259, India reached the target in 45.2 overs with six wickets in hand.

The chase began on a shaky note as Rohit Sharma was dismissed for 11, while Virat Kohli managed only 5 runs, falling leg-before to Jofra Archer in his comeback ODI after missing the Afghanistan series due to injury.
After Gill’s retirement hurt, Shreyas Iyer contributed 35 runs, while Washington Sundar remained unbeaten on 52 and Axar Patel scored an unbeaten 57, guiding India to a comfortable victory.
Although Kohli could not make a significant contribution with the bat, his gesture towards Gill became one of the defining moments of the match, highlighting the camaraderie and mutual respect within the Indian dressing room.
