Heavy Rain Alert Across Maharashtra Till July 31
The Maharashtra government has issued a weather alert as rainfall activity is expected to intensify across several parts of the state between July 29 and July 31, driven by the influence of a low-pressure system developing over the Bay of Bengal.

According to the forecast, Vidarbha, North Marathwada, Khandesh, Konkan and the Ghat regions of Central Maharashtra are likely to witness moderate to heavy rainfall during the three-day period. Strong winds are also expected over Vidarbha, North Marathwada and Khandesh, while comparatively lower rainfall is likely across southern Marathwada and southern parts of Central Maharashtra.
Authorities have warned that extremely heavy rainfall may occur at isolated locations, increasing the risk of waterlogging in low-lying areas, flooding of rivers and streams, structural damage, traffic disruptions and temporary disruption of normal life. Landslides are also possible in the Ghat sections of Central Maharashtra.
Weather officials stated that the impact of the low-pressure system is expected to be strongest over East Vidarbha on July 29. On July 30, the rainfall is likely to spread across West Vidarbha, Khandesh, North Marathwada, the Ghat regions of Central Maharashtra and Konkan. By July 31, rainfall activity is expected to remain active over parts of Khandesh and the Ghat regions of Central Maharashtra.
The forecast also indicates that Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) are likely to experience a significant increase in rainfall on July 30 and 31. Raigad, Thane and Palghar are expected to receive particularly intense rainfall on July 30.
The State Disaster Management Department has urged residents of Vidarbha, North Marathwada, Khandesh and the Ghat regions to remain alert, especially those living in low-lying areas or near rivers and streams. Travellers using mountain roads have also been advised to exercise caution and contact local authorities in case of emergencies.
