Mumbai: The much-awaited teaser of Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan’s upcoming thriller ‘Haiwaan’ has finally been released, and it has already created a buzz among moviegoers. Directed by Priyadarshan, the nearly 45-second teaser has deliberately kept the identities of the two lead characters under wraps, making the mystery surrounding the film even more intriguing.

The teaser was unveiled on Wednesday by KVN Productions, led by Venkat Narayan, and Thespian Films. What has grabbed the most attention is that neither Akshay Kumar nor Saif Ali Khan’s face is clearly shown in the teaser.
Instead, the makers have used shadows, mysterious visuals, eerie sounds and disturbing sequences to build suspense. The teaser has already triggered discussions on social media, with fans speculating about the characters and predicting that the film could become a major thriller.
Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan have previously shared the screen in films such as Yeh Dillagi, Main Khiladi Tu Anari and Tashan. Their reunion after nearly 18 years has further increased the excitement surrounding ‘Haiwaan’.
Teaser Begins With a Mysterious Voice
The teaser opens with a woman’s voice singing over a melancholic tune. Soon after, the shadow of a man speaking on the phone appears on screen.
The following visuals reveal that the character played by Saif Ali Khan is visually impaired. Another mysterious figure then appears near a glass wall, giving viewers a hint that the character could be played by Akshay Kumar.
However, the makers have carefully avoided revealing the characters’ faces, keeping their identities and motives a mystery.
Blind Saif, Murder and Falling Currency Notes
Several intense visuals follow in the teaser. Saif’s character is seen walking with the help of a stick and carefully descending a staircase.
In another sequence, he appears to use a specially designed watch that allows him to determine the time through touch.
The teaser then takes a darker turn with a murder sequence. A wounded man is seen lying on the floor and desperately reaching out for help.
Soon after, currency notes are shown falling from a high-rise building. The visuals raise several questions about the murder, the money and the connection between the two central characters. The answers are expected to unfold only when the film reaches theatres.
Akshay’s Disturbing Laugh Ends the Teaser
The final moments of the teaser make the mystery even darker. Akshay Kumar’s character is seen standing behind a glass wall and looking inside.
The title ‘Haiwaan’ then appears on screen in a blood-red colour. The teaser ends with a disturbing and almost sinister laugh from Akshay’s character, hinting at a potentially dangerous and unpredictable role.
The biggest question now remains — who is the real hero and who is the ‘Haiwaan’?
‘Haiwaan’ Is a Hindi Remake of ‘Oppam’
Directed by Priyadarshan, ‘Haiwaan’ features Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles, along with Saiyami Kher, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Boman Irani.
The film is a Hindi remake of the 2016 Malayalam neo-noir crime thriller ‘Oppam’, which starred South Indian superstar Mohanlal in the lead role.
In the Hindi adaptation, Saif Ali Khan is reportedly playing the role of a visually impaired martial artist. His character is tasked with protecting a young girl from a dangerous psychopath, setting up the central conflict of the thriller.
Mohanlal is also reportedly set to make a cameo appearance in the Hindi version, adding another layer of excitement for fans of the original film.
When Will ‘Haiwaan’ Release?
‘Haiwaan’ is scheduled to hit theatres across India on September 11, 2026. With Priyadarshan at the helm and Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan returning together after a long gap, the film has already generated considerable curiosity among Bollywood and thriller fans.
