Pimpri-Chinchwad | Special Correspondent: How credible is the figure of over 56,000 objections filed against the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s draft Development Plan (DP)? This question has arisen following the hearing held on the very first day. Although notices were sent to approximately 2,341 objectors for the first day, reports indicate that only 123 to 250 citizens actually attended the hearing.

The hearing took place on Tuesday between 10:30 AM and 6:00 PM. Despite the administration summoning around 2,250 citizens, attendance remained extremely low. This has raised fresh questions regarding the total number of objections.

No objection filed; so why the notice?

Many citizens who attended the hearing made a shocking claim. Reports indicate that several people told officials, “We did not file any objection regarding the development plan, yet a notice was issued in our name.”

Some even stated that they did not recall ever submitting an objection application. This raises a serious question: was an objection filed in the individual’s name by a third party?

Was the objection count artificially inflated?

Against this backdrop, some citizens and attendees suspected that certain individuals might have filed applications using the names and mobile numbers of others to inflate the objection count. Consequently, there is speculation about a discrepancy between the actual objectors and the names listed in the applications. However, there is currently no official evidence or administrative confirmation to support this claim. Consequently, this matter could become a subject of investigation.

Reality revealed on day one?

The Municipal Corporation has announced the receipt of 56,779 objections regarding the development plan. However, given the very poor response to the hearing on the very first day, the question arises: were all these objections actually filed by the concerned citizens themselves?
