Cold Wave Grips Nashik: Chilly Winds Keep Citizens Shivering All Day
Despite Nashik recording a minimum temperature of 11.8°C, cold winds sweeping across the city have made the weather feel much colder, forcing residents to endure shivers throughout the day.

Cold Wave Grips Nashik:
A cold wave has tightened its grip over Nashik, with residents experiencing continuous chills throughout the day. Although the minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 11.8°C, the presence of sharp, cold northern winds made the weather feel significantly colder than the actual reading.
āļø Coldest Conditions in Niphad
While Nashik is battling biting winds, Niphad has recorded even lower temperatures at 8.5°C, making it one of the coldest places in the district. Residents there are struggling with harsh winter conditions as the mercury continues to drop steadily.
š¬ļø Northern Winds Increase Chill Factor
Meteorologists said that the cold wave has intensified due to the increasing influence of cold northern winds, which are likely to continue for the next two days. This additional wind chill has resulted in discomfort even during the daytime, when temperatures usually rise slightly.
Earlier in the week, Nashik saw temperatures dip below 10°C, bringing severe winter-like conditions. However, a slight rise in temperature had led many to believe the cold phase was ending. But with the return of strong winds, the chill has resurfaced more intensely.
š”ļø Drop in Day Temperature Adds to Discomfort
Not only the minimum temperature, but the maximum daytime temperature has also dropped significantly, resulting in cold weather round the clock rather than limited to mornings and late evenings.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), this pattern may continue as the region remains under the influence of a cold air mass originating from northern India.
š„ Advisory for Residents
Authorities and health experts have advised citizens to:
-
Wear adequate warm clothing
-
Avoid stepping outdoors early morning or late night
-
Take special care of children, elderly, and patients with asthma or respiratory ailments
-
Increase intake of warm fluids like soup, warm water, and tea
With the cold wave expected to persist, Nashik and nearby regions are likely to see continued freezing winds and lower morning temperatures over the next few days.
Residents may need to prepare for further drops, especially in rural and agricultural zones like Niphad, where ground frost could also impact crops.
