Chakan Industrial Area Now Moving Towards a Traffic-Free, Problem-Free Future!

For many years, there have been no concrete solutions to the traffic congestion and lack of infrastructure in the Chakan Industrial Area, causing distress to commuters, drivers, and industrial companies alike. However, BJP MLA Mahesh Landge has expressed confidence that the area is now progressing towards resolution.

Industrial organizations and voluntary groups had launched the #UNCLOG_Chakan_MIDC campaign to highlight issues like traffic congestion and infrastructural inadequacies in the Chakan industrial region. A delegation also met MLA Mahesh Landge recently, requesting him to take up the matter with the state government.

Subsequently, an important meeting was held in the Mumbai office of Public Works Minister Shivrendra Sinhraje Bhosale, focusing on resolving traffic congestion and other issues in the Chakan industrial zone. Present at the meeting were elected representatives from Maval and Khed, Additional Chief Secretary (PWD), Secretaries (Roads), Chief Engineers from MSRDC, MIDC Pune, PWD Pune, Project Director (NHAI Pune), Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Pimpri-Chinchwad, and officials from Chakan/Talegaon municipalities.

MLA Landge emphasized to the Minister that Chakan, a crucial economic hub in Maharashtra, is facing serious challenges that affect not only industries but also the quality of life of local residents.

Establish a ‘Single Point Authority’ like in Hinjawadi…

To facilitate land acquisition for the NH-60 Elevated Corridor (Nashik Phata to Khed) and ensure coordination between various bodies such as the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), PMRDA, MIDC, National Highways, PWD, and Zilla Parishad, MLA Mahesh Landge has demanded the formation of a ‘Single Point Authority’. This authority would also oversee the expansion of entry roads from Pimpri-Chinchwad into the Chakan industrial belt and initiate work on National Highway 65 (Hadapsar to Yavat) and National Highway 548D (Talegaon–Chakan–Shikrapur).

In addition, he has proposed:

• Road widening and maintenance

• Traffic control management

• Public transport improvements

• Parking management

• A dedicated freight corridor for industrial traffic

Furthermore, he has emphasized the need for coordinated efforts among local governing bodies (Gram Panchayats, Municipalities), MSRDC, PWD, RTO, and the Police Department to create a long-term traffic master plan, to be implemented in phases.

Minister Shivrendra Sinhraje Bhosale has given a positive response to this proposal.
