Aadhaar Card Update:
UIDAI is preparing to issue a new Aadhaar card where name, address, date of birth, and Aadhaar number will not be printed.
The new card will display only the holder’s photo and a secure QR code containing all details.

Why the Change? UIDAI’s Clarification

UIDAI CEO Bhavesh Kumar said that people often give photocopies of their Aadhaar at hotels, PGs, events, etc., which increases the risk of data theft and misuse.
Since Aadhaar contains sensitive information, UIDAI plans to release a new card as early as December, with improved privacy and security.

What’s Inside the New Aadhaar Card?

• ❌ No Address

• ❌ No Date of Birth

• ❌ No Aadhaar Number

• ✔️ QR Code will store all data in encrypted form

• ✔️ Information can be accessed only by scanning the QR code with authorized devices

This ensures privacy, security, and zero misuse of printed Aadhaar information.

Why Current Rules Are Being Changed?

• By law, Aadhaar number and biometric information cannot be taken offline

• But many hotels, PGs, event organizers take photocopies and store them

• This creates a high risk of data leakage

• Violating rules can lead to ₹1 crore penalty

• Consent must be taken via OTP, fingerprint, or iris scan
