Pune | Moshi-Borhadewadi, Pimpri-Chinchwad – In a monumental tribute to one of India’s bravest and most visionary rulers, the “Statue of Hindubhushan”, a 140-feet tall full-body statue of Dharmaveer Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, is being erected at Moshi-Borhadewadi. Spearheaded by BJP MLA Shri Mahesh Dada Landge, this towering project is poised to become a national symbol of valor, intellect, and cultural pride.
A Tribute to the Forgotten Genius of Maratha History
Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the eldest son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the second ruler of the Hindavi Swarajya, is remembered not only for his supreme sacrifice but also for his sharp intellect, poetic genius, strategic leadership, and unflinching commitment to Dharma. Despite a brief reign of just 14 years, his contributions to the Maratha empire were unparalleled.
The Statue of Hindubhushan aims to restore his rightful place in history by presenting his life and legacy in all its glory.
More Than a Statue – The Creation of “Shambhoosrushti”
This isn’t just a statue. It is the heart of an expansive cultural project called “Shambhoosrushti”, designed to educate, inspire, and immortalize the ethos of Sambhaji Maharaj’s life.

Control rooms for live shows & tech infrastructure
The structure is being constructed to last over 1,000 years, a testament to both engineering excellence and historical reverence.
Guided by Visionaries
The architectural brilliance of the statue comes under the guidance of Padma Shri Ram Sutar, the world-renowned sculptor behind the Statue of Unity. Acclaimed author Shri Vishwas Patil is also closely involved in ensuring historical accuracy and narrative richness throughout the project.

“This is not just a statue; it is the awakening of a narrative that history often overlooked,” said MLA Mahesh Dada Landge, who has been the torchbearer of this initiative. “People remember Sambhaji Maharaj for the torture he endured, but we must remember him for the brilliance he embodied — his strategy, leadership, and intellect. This statue is a tribute to that complete legacy.” He added that the Statue of Hindubhushan is a life mission and a collective dream of countless Shivpremis and cultural enthusiasts across Maharashtra.
