Washington: US President Donald Trump reportedly took extraordinary security measures while leaving Turkey last month amid heightened tensions with Iran. According to a report by The Washington Post, Trump allegedly used an airport catering truck to secretly reach a smaller military aircraft instead of departing openly aboard Air Force One.

The report has highlighted the extent to which the Trump administration was concerned about potential security threats linked to Iran during the President’s international trip.
Trump has repeatedly warned Iran that the United States could take devastating action against the country. He has also frequently claimed that Iran’s military capabilities have been severely weakened. However, the reported security arrangements during his return journey indicate that the threat from Iran was being taken seriously at the highest level.
Trump Used Military Jet Instead of Air Force One
Trump had travelled to the NATO Summit using the new aircraft gifted by Qatar. It was reportedly his first international trip using the newly gifted aircraft.
However, when leaving the region, Trump reportedly did not use the same aircraft. Instead, the older Air Force One was used as part of the security arrangements, while Trump was secretly moved to a smaller military aircraft.
According to the report, Trump used an Air Force C-32A aircraft for the journey from Turkey to the United Kingdom.
Food Truck Used for Secret Transfer
The most striking detail of the report is that Trump allegedly used an airport catering truck to reach the C-32A aircraft without drawing attention.
The unusual movement was reportedly known to some US officials and others involved in the President’s travel arrangements. The aircraft carrying Trump landed in the UK at around 10:20 pm, while the older Air Force One also landed separately.
The move was reportedly aimed at maintaining operational security amid the tense situation involving Iran and its neighbouring countries.
Trump Had Earlier Mentioned Old Air Force One
Trump had reportedly said on social media that he was travelling on the old “baby blue” Air Force One. However, the Washington Post report claims that he secretly travelled on the C-32A military aircraft during the journey from Turkey.
The report has now raised fresh questions over the level of security precautions taken for the US President during his visit to a region facing heightened tensions with Iran.
