Mukri’s Daughter Makes Big Claim About Amitabh Bachchan

Veteran actor Mukri’s daughter, Naseem Mukri, has made startling claims about Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, alleging that he neither attended her father’s funeral nor contacted the family after the veteran comedian’s demise in 2000.

In a recent interview, Naseem reflected on the relationships her father shared within the Hindi film industry and claimed that friendships in Bollywood often last only as long as professional success.

Mukri and Amitabh Bachchan shared the screen in several iconic films, including Laawaris, Sharaabi, and Coolie, becoming one of Bollywood’s most loved actor-comedian duos. However, according to Naseem, the bond did not continue after her father’s passing.

“When my father passed away, Rishi Kapoor reached our home at 7 a.m. after hearing the news. He cried like a child. But Amitabh Bachchan never came,” she claimed.

Naseem further alleged that Amitabh Bachchan neither visited the family nor even made a phone call to express condolences following Mukri’s death. She recalled that during Amitabh’s struggling days, he often visited their home while staying with actor Mehmood, but said the relationship changed completely after success.

Sharing her views on Bollywood friendships, Naseem remarked that professional relationships often disappear once success fades.

“This is how friendships work in the film industry. As long as your pairing is successful and you’re contributing to hit films, everyone stays close. Once that ends, people move on,” she said.

When asked whether Jaya Bachchan, who shared a close bond with Mukri since the film Piya Ka Ghar, had attended the funeral, Naseem gave a clear response.

“No. She didn’t come either. She didn’t even make a phone call. Honestly, at that difficult time, we weren’t even keeping track of who came and who didn’t,” she said.

Naseem also fondly remembered the late Rishi Kapoor, saying he was deeply affected by Mukri’s death. She recalled that he rushed to their home early in the morning after learning about the news through a late-night television bulletin.

“Rishi Kapoor stood at our doorstep at 7 a.m. and cried like a little child. My father had worked with him in many films, and they shared a special bond,” she said.

Mukri, regarded as one of Hindi cinema’s finest comedians, passed away in Mumbai in 2000 following a heart attack at the age of 78. His memorable performances in classics such as Mother India, Bombay to Goa, Amar Akbar Anthony, Coolie, Sharaabi, and Laawaris continue to be celebrated by movie lovers.
