IIM Campus Cleared for Pimpri-Chinchwad Growth Push
Maharashtra Cabinet Approves Free Land at Moshi; MLA Mahesh Landge’s Persistent Pursuit Delivers Landmark Higher-Education Victory

PIMPRI-CHINCHWAD: In a major boost to higher education and the future growth trajectory of Pimpri-Chinchwad, the Maharashtra Cabinet has approved a proposal to allot government land free of cost for the establishment of an extended campus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) at Moshi.
The decision marks a significant milestone in the city’s journey towards becoming a nationally recognised education and innovation hub. The approval comes after sustained efforts and continuous follow-up by BJP MLA Mahesh Landge, who had been strongly advocating for the project before the state government.
Landge had repeatedly pursued the proposal with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, seeking to bring an IIM campus to Pimpri-Chinchwad. Earlier, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, District Collector’s Office and Revenue Department had expressed their support for the initiative. With the Cabinet’s approval now secured, the path has been cleared for one of the most prestigious management institutions in the country to establish its presence in the city.
Moshi was identified as a strategic location due to its strong connectivity with Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune and Mumbai. The region’s rapidly expanding industrial belt, thriving IT ecosystem and growing urban infrastructure further strengthened the case for setting up the institution there.
The arrival of an IIM campus is expected to elevate Pimpri-Chinchwad’s educational profile, attract talented students from across the country and create new opportunities for industry-academia collaboration. Experts believe the institution will play a transformative role in strengthening the city’s knowledge economy while complementing its reputation as one of India’s leading industrial and technology destinations.
“Transforming Pimpri-Chinchwad into one of the country’s leading Education Hubs is our vision, and the arrival of IIM has provided the biggest boost to that mission. Hon’ble Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis extended positive support from the very beginning and accelerated this dream by approving free land for the institution in the Cabinet meeting. The convergence of industry, IT and higher education will lay the foundation for a bright and prosperous future for our city.”
