Chief Minister and PMRDA Chairman Devendra Fadnavis had taken a special initiative to eliminate railway crossings, viewing the traffic congestion problem in the Pune Metropolitan Region with great seriousness. In earlier meetings regarding this matter, it was directed that instead of executing the construction of ROBs, Foot Over-Bridges (FOBs), and RUBs through various different agencies, the work should be entrusted to MahaRail, which possesses the necessary technical expertise. This directive accelerated the process.
Following these instructions, a series of meetings took place between the two organizations to facilitate the handover of these PMRDA projects to MahaRail. Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari had directed that the draft MoU be finalized urgently; consequently, the agreement was signed by both parties today. MahaRail Managing Director Rajeshkumar Jaiswal and PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari signed the agreement. Senior officials from both organizations, including Shivprasad Bagdi, Chief Engineer (In-charge) of PMRDA, were present on the occasion.
Many roads to become free of railway crossings!
This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will make numerous roads in the Pune Metropolitan Region free of railway crossings, helping to eliminate the long queues of vehicles that typically form at these crossings. Furthermore, it paves the way for accelerated development within the PMRDA area and will result in significant savings of both travel time and fuel for citizens.
