Pune Rain Update: Heavy Showers Bring Relief, IMD Sounds Fresh Alert
After days of unbearable heat and rising humidity, residents of Pune finally received major relief as strong rain showers hit several parts of the city on Thursday afternoon. Dark clouds covered the skyline, followed by gusty winds and intense rainfall in multiple areas, especially Hadapsar.
The sudden weather shift brought down temperatures and created a dramatic change across the city. Areas including Hadapsar witnessed heavy rainfall, while several other localities experienced cloudy conditions and moderate showers.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a weather alert was issued at 2:35 PM on May 22 for parts of Maharashtra, including Pune, Satara, Raigad and Ratnagiri districts.
The IMD has predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, hailstorms and strong winds in isolated areas. Authorities have urged citizens to remain alert amid rapidly changing weather conditions.
Officials advised people to avoid standing in open spaces during lightning activity, stay away from trees and avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain and storm conditions.
Weather experts believe the changing atmospheric conditions could trigger more intense rain spells across Pune and nearby regions over the next few hours. Citizens have been advised to monitor official weather updates and take necessary precautions.
