Chennai: In a dramatic political breakthrough in Tamil Nadu, actor-turned-politician Vijay has finally crossed the crucial majority mark, bringing the formation of a new government within touching distance. The political uncertainty gripping the state appears to have ended after the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi officially extended its support to Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.

The biggest turning point came when VCK formally communicated its decision through an official e-mail, confirming unconditional support to TVK. With two MLAs in the Assembly, VCK’s move has significantly strengthened Vijay’s numbers and altered the political landscape of Tamil Nadu.

Earlier, Left parties had already announced their support for Vijay. However, despite multiple meetings with the Governor over the last three days, TVK was struggling to prove the required majority of 118 MLAs. The latest backing from VCK has now changed the equation completely.

According to the final numbers, TVK has secured 108 seats in the Assembly elections. The support of Congress (5), CPI (2), CPI(M) (2), and now VCK (2) has taken the alliance tally to 119 seats — comfortably above the majority mark.

“VCK has announced unconditional support to TVK,” the development confirmed, ending days of suspense that kept both Vijay and the entire state’s political future under intense speculation.

The development marks a massive political milestone for Vijay, whose transition from cinema superstar to power center in Tamil Nadu politics has now become a reality. Political observers believe the coming days could witness one of the most significant shifts in the state’s political history.
