Pimpri- Chinchwad: Taking a stern stand against rising air pollution, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has sealed four Ready-Mix Concrete (RMC) plants following a surprise inspection. The action was spearheaded by the civic body’s nuisance detection squad across Punawale, Moshi, and Pimple Saudagar.

The crackdown comes as part of a specialized drive by the Environment Engineering Department to monitor industrial compliance with environmental norms. During the operation, officials inspected 10 RMC plants, finding severe irregularities in four of them.

Key Violations Observed

* The inspection revealed that several plants were operating in total defiance of dust control protocols. Major lapses included:
* Absence of Dust Suppression Systems: Lack of functional machinery to control suspended particulate matter.
* Poor Sanitation: General lack of cleanliness within the premises.
* Improper Storage: Raw materials were kept in the open, significantly contributing to local air pollution.
